WHY THE BIBLE?

In a world full of self-help books, podcasts, TED Talks and all manner of trending advice on every platform imaginable, it’s fair to ask: Why the Bible? Why to cling to this book when there’s so much current/modern wisdom and insights available at our fingerprints?

Short answer: Because the Bible is timeless truth in a world full of temporary trends.

  1. The Bible is God’s Living Word.

Unlike other books, the Bible isn’t just a historical document or a collection of good morals. It’s the word of God – living, active and powerful (Hebrews 4:12). That means it doesn’t just speak to our circumstances but rather, it changes us from the inside out, gives us solutions to challenges and shows us the God way of doing life.

2. It’s the Ultimate Blueprint for life.

Life doesn’t come with a manual – but God gave us His Word, which is truly sufficient, better than a manual if i may say so myself. Whether we are fighting anxiety, panic attacks, heart breaks, building confidence, setting boundaries et cetera, the Bible has something to say about every circumstance. Proverbs is filled with wisdom. Psalms is basically a prayer book filled with worship and praise. The Gospels are full of Jesus – our ultimate example of love, humility and strength. No matter what you’re going through or what you’re facing, the Word of God meets you there.

3. It Holds us in Truth

Today, truth is constantly shifting. Culture/society says one thing today and something utterly different tomorrow. But God’s Word? It doesn’t change. What was true 2,000 years ago is still true today. Just as Isaiah 40:8 says, “the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever.” Consistency! Good for the soul.

4. It Builds a Relationship

Reading the Bible isn’t about ticking off a box on your to-do list (although you should). The goal of Bible study is to get to know He who created you wonderfully and fearfully. The more we read God’s Word, the more we are able to know His voice, to discern and build an intimate relationship with our Father. When all is said and done, our relationship with Him is what matter most.

5. It Empowers us to live Boldly

The Bible Believing Baddie! There’s nothing more powerful than a woman or man who knows who they are in Christ and stands on His Word with boldness. When you acknowledge that God is your firm foundation, no storm can push you down. The Bible reminds us of our identity, our worth and our authority. Think of that classmate of yours or colleague who is so full of themselves just because they come from a wealthy background? how much so we who are part of God’s family?! The Creator of everything on earth and in heaven.

Final thoughts

So, why the Bible? Because it’s where we find truth, meet God, build strength, heal wounds, gain clarity, walk in purpose etc.. the list is endless. It’s more than a library of books, it is a lifeline.

Whether you’re starting your faith journey or you’ve been walking with God for years, do not downplay the power of Scripture.
